The Penalties Are Serious
It is easier to have your driver's license suspended if you are under the age of 21. Georgia law allows judges to suspend your license for six months for a first conviction. If you are convicted again, your license will be suspended for one year. You will not be allowed to receive a limited driving permit during the suspension.
There are many offenses that can lead to driver's license suspension, including:
- Speeding more than 24 miles per hour (mph) over the posted limit
- Driving under the influence (DUI)
- Purchasing or attempting to purchase alcohol
- Reckless or aggressive driving
- Hit and run
- Any other four-point driving offense
